Before the end of September, the preparation for drilling an exploratory well will be commenced in the vicinity of the Lesnaya village (Tigilsky District) aimed at finding new sources of water supply. According to Pyotr Bulany, Managing Director of Kamchatgeologia (comprising a part of Rosgeologia), prospecting for water sources is performed as part of the long-term dedicated regional programme “Development and Exploration of Kamchatka Reserves and Resources in 2013–2017” as commissioned by the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
In the Tigilsky District, prospecting for water will be also carried out in the villages of Voyampolka and Khairyuzovo. Kamchatgeologia will implement the same work at the eastern border of Koryakia, including the Vyvenka village in the Olyutorsky District and Ivashka in the Karaginsky District.
As explained by Pyotr Bulany, compact rigs that can be transported by off-road vehicles are used for drilling. Prospecting performed at the first stage will allow determining locations for drilling wells before the end of this year. Water supply intakes are expected to be developed by April 2014.
Prospecting for new sources of the centralized drinking and household water supply was commenced in several Kamchatka districts last year and was financed from the regional budget. In 2012, Kamchatgeologia won the tenders and carried out prospecting for potable water required for the Sobolevo and Tymlat villages.
